Teach Science and Mathematics is a program launched by the University of South Carolina’s College of Education to increase the number of math and science teachers in South Carolina.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Duke Energy Foundation, the program aims to build the next generation of teachers who will influence science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—known as STEM—in middle and high schools.

Currently, STEM educators are in short supply, particularly in South Carolina. The efforts put forth in the Teach Science and Mathematics program mirror a national movement to recruit more and improved STEM teachers.
