About the STEM teacher deficit

Did you know there is a shortage of secondary STEM teachers across the nation? That means South Carolina schools are struggling to fill middle and high school vacancies in key areas of our children's education, like algebra, geometry, biology, and chemistry.

In 2012-13, the percent of total bachelor's degrees awarded in mathematics and statics was 1.1% or 252 degrees out of 23,584. By encouraging your child to consider a career in teaching, together we can change these astounding statistics and fill our schools with competent and qualified teachers of science and mathematics.
